“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.” ( 2 Corinthians 5:10- 11 )
The bible tells us that we will be called into the Boss’s office one day for the ultimate performance review. Stand before Jesus Christ to give an account of our choices. Many believers aren’t aware this judgment day is coming. They know there’s going to be a judgment at the end of time for unbelievers, but they are unaware there’s another one for those who have trusted in Christ. On that day all of us look Jesus in the eye as He reviews the times we made selfish choices and the times we were gracious to others, the moments we hoped no one was watching and the ones we hoped the world knew what we were doing. All our selfishness will burn up and vanish and will be left with the rewards we’ve earned by pleasing God. And this is the only performance review by God well ever experience. For this reason, we need to get ready now by aligning our lives with God’s purposes and His ways.
Most of us look at our list of responsibilities to be certain we get all our tasks accomplished, and we make sure we’re pleasant to the people around us. We may want a promotion or a raise, or we may want to hear that we’re doing a good job so we can stay employed. We do whatever it takes so that the review is positive as possible. The reality of the review makes difference in our choice.
