They said to me, “ The remnant there in the province who survived the captivity are in great distress and reproach, and the wall of Jerusalem is broken down and its gates are burned with fire. When I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for days; and I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.” ( Nehemiah 1:3-4 )

Most of Us Spend our lives trying to project an image of beauty and competence. We want others to think highly of Us. Only courageous people are known for their honesty. It is easier to look the other way when we see needs in our lives or in the lives of people around Us. We give excuses that we’ve tried as hard as we can or we don’t have time to help others in need. We need to let the truth sink into our hearts so we can respond with genuine compassion. Successful action starts with ruthless honesty.
